Nintendo Switch: Launch Date & More

Written by Krista

The long-awaited reveal of Nintendo’s newest home console is finally here. Originally codenamed the Nintendo NX but more recently revealed to be named the Nintendo Switch. With around forty days to go until its worldwide release, the console is starting to gain the much-needed hype and marketing that it needs.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, 1-2 Switch, Super Bomberman R, Just Dance 2017 and Skylanders Imaginatiors will be the launch day games with SnipperClippers. Fast RMX and Has-Been Heroes will follow shortly after the initial release of the Nintendo Switch.

Of course, these aren’t the only games set for release in the first half on 2017.  The next big release will be the Deluxe edition of Mario Kart 8 on 28th April 2017. Followed by Arms, Disgaea 5 Complete, Puyo Puyo Tetris, Rime and finally Splatoon 2 to come out towards the end of the first half of the year.

For the second half of the year, two big name titles will be landing on the Switch. The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim and our favourite plumber makes a return in the new Super Mario Odyssey. Let’s not forget that there is also a handful of games with no release date yet over than a hint at a 2017 release. These include Minecraft, Steep, I Am Setsuna and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 plus many more that can be seen in the Nintendo Switch Software Digest Video.

The games aren’t the only thing that the Nintendo Switch has to offer. The unique mix of home console gaming and gaming on the go. The Switch comes with three play modes TV mode, Tabletop mode and Handheld mode. A console that can fit around the player’s lifestyle.

Alongside the different play modes, you can link up to eight consoles for multiplayer games and that is where the Joy-Con controllers come in handy. You can use the Joy-Con’s individually or together. Give one to a friend and play anywhere. Just like with the original Wii controllers the Joy-Con controllers feature comprehensive motion control features as well as HD Rumble and Infer-Red motion cameras for an even better gaming experience.

The Nintendo Switch is planned for a worldwide release on 3rd March 2017 with prices starting at £279.99/$299.99. Pre-orders are also available now at participating retailers worldwide.
